Fresno County housing age
The American Community Survey puts the county's housing stock at about 345,000 units. Close to 47 percent were built before 1980, while around 26 percent were built in 2000 or later.
For older homes, the usual pre-remodel checks are asbestos in popcorn ceilings and floor tile, and lead in paint. EPA's guidance is that the 1978 line matters: homes built earlier are the ones more prone to lead-based paint.
Heat, dry summers and wells
At Fresno Yosemite International Airport, NOAA's 1991-2020 normals show only about 11 inches of rain a year, and the average July high is about 98°F. Most of the rain falls between November and March.
Rural homes on a private well can ask for well water testing. In town, mold questions usually trace back to a plumbing or roof leak rather than outdoor humidity.
Smoke and fire testing
If smoke or ash reached a home in Fresno County, you can request smoke and fire testing. A partner can sample soot and ash on surfaces and have their lab analyze it.
Air district rules
Fresno County sits entirely inside the San Joaquin Valley APCD. Demolition, and some renovation work, may need an asbestos survey under federal rules, plus a notice to that district before work begins.

Questions
Can I get my well tested in rural Fresno County?
You can request water quality testing and note that the home is on a private well. A partner who handles wells will explain what they sample for and how results are reported.
Do you cover Clovis and the foothill towns?
We take requests from anywhere in the county and look for a partner who serves that address. If nobody is active near you, we say so.
